Shutterstock Royalty Program – Review07.05.10

Estimated Startup Cost: FREE

Website: http://submit.shutterstock.com/?ref=254968

Description: Shutterstock is different than other stock models. Buyers subscribe on a monthly basis and can download up to 750 images over the course of 30 days. Your cut? Shutterstock will pay you 25 cents every time one of your images is downloaded. Once you reach $500 in earnings, your commission goes up to 30 cents per download.

Their subscription model encourages buyers to download a greater volume of images than they would at most other agencies.

Current Payout $0.25 (US) per download. That means that at just 2000 downloads/month, you can earn $500 (US) per month! Many of their photographers earn this and more every month.

Steps to get started:

  1. Visit Shutterstock’s website and sign up for a free account
  2. Spend some time to learn what it takes to get your first 10 pictures submitted and ok’d
  3. Don’t get discouraged if your first 10 don’t pass…it can take a little time to get your photos accepted.
  4. Once accepted, snap away and enjoy the income

Expectations: If you are serious about photography and take the time necessary to submit quality photographs, you can make some good residual income. The key to success is learning Shutterstock’s rules and sticking with them. It is a lot of fun doing as well once you get the hang of it.

Expectations: My wife and I decided to try a couple of projects that they were looking for shoppers to fulfill. I was a little hesitant at first thinking that it wouldn’t be worth the time, but we earned $600 in about 4 hours of our time. Was it worth it? I think so!

Opinion Outpost: Surveys – Review07.05.10

Estimated Startup Cost: Free

Website: https://www.getpaidforyouropinions.homestead.com

BBB Rating: as of 2/17/2010 was a  C -

Description: Well, my opinion about this opportunity is that it is not worth your time. I set up an account for about a month and at first things looked promising. It definitely wasn’t something to bank my retirement on, but it seemed like a good way to make a small amount of money every month.

Well, I started receiving emails from them with survey opportunities. They stated that my profile matched the survey’s criteria. Once I clicked on the link they gave me I went through a series of questions and found out that I was not actually qualified for the survey. Pretty frustrating. Especially after wasting 5 minutes of my own time.

I don’t feel like this is some kind of scam, but it definitely is a “rotten” idea.

Steps to get started:

1. Sign up and set up your profile.
2. Complete your member profile so that they can match you up with the right surveys (ones that match your likes/dislikes/background, etc…)
3. Once you have signed up you are ready to start taking surveys.

Expectations: Don’t expect much. After a month of testing it out I have nothing to show for it
